Shortie Today

Not going to write much today, since we lost my brother-in-law, Raymond, yesterday. We're leaving to be with sister-in-law in the morning. Probably will stay a few days. Sis will stay here and cat- and doggie-sit. I'll sure miss the fantastic fish fries we had when Raymond cooked crappie and catfish for us. But we'll have another one some day. He gave that damn big C a tough fight, but it won. I hate that disease.
I had planned to write about something that happened here at the house a while back, and it's short so will take time for that. A lovely lady, Maxine, who used to live across the street from us, became a dear friend. She passed away a year or so ago, and another friend was asking me one day if "Max had visited me after she passed." I said no, I hadn't "seen" her.
Then a couple days later, I was in my office closet and this gold lady's watch was on the floor. I'd never seen it before, so I picked it up and showed it to a few people. One was Sarah, the friend who had asked about Max. Sarah is also a nurse and had cared for Max some of her last days.
Sarah was very interested in the watch. She said, "Max had a watch exactly like this. I know, because I helped her take it on and off many times."
So I guess Max did come "see" me. I always gave her a poinsetta at Christmas, so will be sure to take one out to her grave this year.
Take care and be sure and tell everyone you love them. You never know if it will be the last time you can say that to them!
